Ottawa, ON, Jan. 26, 2017 – Equestrian Canada (EC) encourages the equestrian community to submit nominations for Canada’s Volunteer Awards by the deadline of Feb. 3, 2017.

Canada’s Volunteer Awards are an initiative created by the Government of Canada to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation and recognize the important contributions of volunteers in our country.

Non-profit organizations couldn’t exist without the passion, expertise and tireless contributions of volunteers, and Equestrian Canada is certainly no exception. Dedicated volunteers are involved in every facet of EC, and provide vital support by leading strategy on programs and services related to everything from sport and industry to governance and health and welfare. Therefore, EC and Sport Canada encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to shed light on the integral role volunteers play in the equestrian community, and the sport community as a whole.

The Awards will not only applaud individuals, non-profit organizations and businesses across the country, they will provide an opportunity for volunteers to continue to give back. Recipients will be asked to choose an eligible non-profit organization to receive a grant of up to $10,000. The grant will help support positive change, ignite new initiatives and contribute to the culture of philanthropy and generosity Canada is known for.

The deadline to submit nominations is Feb. 3, 2017. To learn more about this Award program, watch this video or visit www.canada.ca/volunteer-awards.
