NEW JUMP CUP INITIATIVE INTRODUCED FOR 2020 The members of the EC Jumping Committee are pleased to introduce a new initiative to support EC-sanctioned hunter/jumper competitions at the bronze, silver, gold, and platinum levels in complying with the new rule requiring safety cups with breakaway track systems in all competition and warm-up rings. At all EC-sanctioned competitions, Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) approved safety cups with breakaway track systems (metal or plastic) will be required on the back rails of oxers; middle and back rails of triple bars; and rails over water. This requirement is mandatory in all jumper competition rings and all jumper and hunter warm-up rings as of January 1, 2020. As of January 1, 2021, FEIapproved safety cups and breakaway track systems will also be required in all hunter competition rings at EC-sanctioned competitions. To assist competition organizers with the cost of compliance, the EC Jumping Committee has earmarked $100,000 in Jump Canada levy funds towards the purchase of FEI-approved jump cups and breakaway track systems. Competition organizers simply need to submit their receipt(s) showing proof of purchase by October 1, 2020, to be reimbursed up to $3,000 CAD per competition venue.
