At the recent meeting of the Provincial Trails Advisory Body we were informed by John Hawkings, Director of Recreations Sites & Trails BC, that the $75 million Rural Dividend Fund which was announced in September might be available for trails. We anticipate that the Fund will become operational in April. It was John’s recommendation that trail user groups wishing to access grants be sure to have shovel-ready projects. Shovel ready means designed, budgeted and any necessary environmental or departmental approvals such as Section 57 obtained.
