Dear EC Sport Licence Holders,

We would like to inform you of the important changes made to the Person Responsible requirements as stipulated in Section A, Article 801.6 of the Equestrian Canada (EC) Rules.

In response to concerns raised by EC Sport Licence Holders and parents of competitive equestrian athletes, EC reviewed and made important changes to the Registered Participant licence requirements for parents.

Effective immediately, parents acting as the Person Responsible for their child’s horse at EC competitions will no longer be required to purchase a Registered Participant licence.

The relevant portion of Section A, Article 801.6 pertaining to Person Responsible requirements at EC sanctioned competitions now reads as follows:

6) The Person Responsible (PR) must sign the competition entry form.
The PR must be an EC Sport Licence Holder in good standing OR in the case of junior/minor owner entries, a parent/guardian is entitled to sign as PR.

Please note that EC is offering a full refund to any parents who purchased a 2017 EC Registered Participant Licence in order to comply with the former Person Responsible requirement.
